A little while ago I posted a blog to satisfy my requirement to have at least 10 postings. I really didn't like that blog. I rushed into it only to satisfy the requirements of my class. Since I've posted that blog I've read the reading assignment for tonight's class (webmonkey site). It was interesting reading. It will also be very helpful. I can't wait to get to class tonight to discuss it.

Today is the last day of posting at least 10 postings to Blogger.com for my UMAR 245 class assignment. So far I have 9 postings with 16 links to other sites. Today I went to the
Italian American Marching Club pre parade party at Harrah's bus garage on Convention Center Blvd. With me were my wife, son, daughter, mother, son in law and two granddaughters, two sisters and all my Genovese cousins along with their spouses and children. The organization was honoring my cousin, the late NOPD Captain Anthony Genovese. He was a member and would have marched today if he hadn't passed away two days before Thanksgiving Day, 2003. The organization honored him by placing a big photograph of him on the title float.
Today I was surfing the net when I encountered two interesting websites. One is the website by Avon Book Publishers (
click here to see it) and the other is for book reviews posted on the web (
click here to see it) by readers. I found both of them very interesting. They will both be viewed by me on a regular basis. These sites will be of general interest to any avid readers. Please check them out and maybe you'll want them to be your favorites sites too.
On my very first post of February 9, I mentioned that I was retired from my first job after 37 years as a state tax administrator. Since most of my life's work has been in a science field, I thought I'd like to try something different. I thought I would like to spend the rest of my life in the art field. I decided that I'd like to become a romanace novelist. That's the reason why I'm taking a
UMAR course at Tulane. Its the beginning of a new kind of life for me. I want to become more artistic. I also would like to design web sites for other romance novelists. Taking this course at Tulane is my start in this area.
In my blog of February 19, I mentioned that I was treasurer of SOLA. When people find out that you're a
CPA, they immediately draft you into serving as treasurer. I started my adult career by serving as treasurer of my fraternity,
Delta Sigma Pi, during my senior year at UNO.
As of this writing, I have posted four blogs containing 11 links. I've been negligent in posting my blogs so now I have to double up and work overtime and post at least six more blogs before next week's class. Perhaps I should join a
procrastinotor's club.

Food, cooked by Buz, my cousin, will be served all day long. I'll be supplying the mixers. If you go to the parade, look me up on the corner of N Telemachus and Canal Street.
I am just now getting around to posting a notice that I have been wanting to do since Sunday, February 15, 2004. Yesterday I went to my
SOLA meeting. The guest speaker was Charles Gramlich. He gave a very informative and entertaining talk about writing horror fiction.
SOLA is the New Orleans local chapter of the
Romance Writers of America.
On that same date I was having health problems and wasn't feeling well. I suspected that my blood pressure was high and on the way to my SOLA meeting I stopped at a
Rite Aiddrug store to take my blood pressure on their free blood pressure machine. I was surprised and shocked when I saw the reading--185/99. I took it two more times and got similar high readings. At first I didn't know if I could trust the machine (probably just wishful thinking) and I drove to my meeting. I attended the meeting, wrote out checks (I'm the Chapter Treasurer) and then went to
Piccadilly Cafeteria where most of the members go for a group lunch. I ate and started feeling better. After the SOLA meeting and lunch I was going to drive to my cousin's house she had rented on Terpsichore St. just one block off St Charles Ave for the Mardi Gras season. She actually lives in Avenue, Maryland. She is a member of the
Shangri La parade and her parade was scheduled to roll that day. As I was driving to go to her house, I started thinking about my condition and got scared because I thought the blood pressure readings were extremely high. I didn't want to ignore it any longer so instead of driving to my cousin's house I drove myself to
West Jefferson Medical Center Emergancy Room. The doctors there took my blood pressure and got similar high readings but didn't seem to be alarmed by those high readings. I suppose those readings weren't as dangerous as I had thought. As of right now, I don't know why my blood pressure went up. I did discuss this with a colleague and she suggested that perhaps it is caused by the Chromium Picolinate that I am taking. She did a Google search on it and found that I shouldn't be taking it. After I got home, I wanted to do a search myself and read about it in greater detail so I went to Google and typed in chromium picalinate and the page that came up said Did you mean:
chromium picolinate. I clicked on it because I noticed I spelled it wrong and google knew what I probably wanted just as was demonstrated on pages 11 and 12 of our Google Pocket Guide in Case A: Joseph Lomax, Student when he entered Caeser instead of Caesar when he needed to research Julius Caesar for a history project.
